OUR CLASSES

Welcome to the Fun, Food & Folklore of the New Orleans School of Cooking!
Our entertaining classes and the Louisiana General Store are located in a renovated molasses warehouse built in the early 1800's. We teach the basics of Louisiana Cooking in a way you'll never forget. Fun is the primary ingredient in our kitchen! Our Creole/Cajun experts teach New Orleans specialties such as Gumbo, Jambalaya, Shrimp Creole and Pralines, and season them with history, tall tales and trivia.

Open Demonstration Lunch Classes

Our popular lunch classes are "open" to individual reservations. The original two and a half hour class, featuring 4 food items, is held daily from 10am-12:30pm. We also offer a 2 hour class, featuring 3 food items, on Fridays and Saturdays, from 2pm-4pm. All "open" classes include generous samplings of the demonstrated items as well as recipes, coffee, iced tea and beer. Reservations may be made at (504) 525-2665 (local) or 1-800-237-4841. Private Demonstration Classes

Private demonstration classes are available daily at anytime for groups of 25 people or more. We'll be happy to assist you with menu and amenity suggestions tailored to your group's interests and personality.

"Hands-on" Cooking Classes

Special participation classes are available for groups of 8 or more. You'll do more than just watch and eat- after all, you're the chef! You will be cutting, chopping, and sautéing a full meal. You may select a four course meal from our delectable menu options, or you have the option of creating your own menu with the aid of our staff. After the hard work is done, you will dine on what you have created!

Team Building Events

These popular evens are perfect for corporate clients, incentive groups, schools or family reunions. We incorporate the best of our Hands-on Cooking Classes & Challenges with fun, humor and friendly competition. Our chefs will masterfully and delightfully guide the competitors through rounds of competition in which they must prove their culinary skills, intellectual prowess and their ability to pull together as a cohesive unit. The competition can get tough, but the atmosphere always remains fun and humorous.

Off-Site Cooking Demonstrations, Hands on Classes or Team Building Challenges

If you can't come to us, we'll come to you! The Convention Center, hotel meeting rooms and other private venues may provide a more convenient setting for your group. Contact the Special Events Office with the time and place, and we will arrange an affair they'll never forget!
